The Mind Grows Heated

The Mind Grows Heated

The Mind Grows Heated… Glass Works 22

The Color Red… Vitality—Courage—Strength

Red stirs our emotions, stimulates us to action, and fills us with energy.

The Mind Grows Heated is my tribute to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Goethe is acknowledged as one of the true giants of creativity. I am inspired by his poem, Lose This Day Loitering. Specifically the lines…

Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Only engage, and then the mind grows heated –

Begin it, and then the work will be completed!

In this image I see the mind conceiving ideas that glow red-hot, longing to complete the journey from thought to reality. Goethe’s legendary list of achievements are proof his ideas often completed the journey to fruition.

I for one wish I could find the discipline to follow his advice. I think of this image each time I’m tempted to “Lose this day loitering,” rather than to “Begin it, and then the work will be completed.”

Prints of The Mind Grows Heated are available  SourceLightImages.

Here is Goethe’s complete poem…

Lose This Day Loitering

Lose this day loitering – ’twill be the same story

To-morrow – and the next more dilatory;

Each indecision brings its own delays,

And days are lost lamenting o’er lost days,

Are you in earnest? sieze this very minute –

Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Only engage, and then the mind grows heated –

Begin it, and then the work will be completed!

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749 – 1832)

Passage from Faust

The Color Yellow… Warmth—Joy—Awakening

The Color Yellow

Yellow, the color of sunlight and warmth symbolizes an awakening of the intellect, and is associated with patience, tolerance and loyalty.

Yellow is energetic, uplifting and light-hearted.

In mythology yellow is Apollo’s color, the god of light and knowledge.

Yellow artwork in your environment will increase energy and stimulate creative thoughts.

Colors are known to invoke an emotional response, impact mood, and even have healing powers.

As a photographer, I challenged myself to create images that featured a dominant color chosen for its beneficial characteristics.

The photograph Glass Works 23 features the warmth of the color yellow accented with tranquil and comforting hues of blue and green.

The Color Orange… Flamboyant—Warm—Jovial

The color orange excites the senses. Orange invigorates the body and stimulates mental activity.

Desire, creativity, emotion, pleasure, and intimacy…these are all terms associated with the flamboyant color orange.

Color therapists use orange to promote joy and counteract depression.

Orange is the color of the extrovert, the adventurer and risk-taker.

Orange also connotes a creative flair, a sense of enthusiasm, and spontaneity.

And as Frank Sinatra once said, “Orange is the happiest color.”

Colors are known to invoke an emotional response, impact mood, and even have healing powers.

As a photographer, I challenged myself to create images that featured a dominant color chosen for its beneficial characteristics.

The color green represents tranquility and peace.

Green in our environment has the power to relax us both mentally and physically.

Green is the color of healing, and is recognized for its role in helping alleviate depression, nervousness, and anxiety.

Green is the most prominent color in nature thus symbolizing the coming of spring and new growth.

Green is also thought to be the most restful color for the human eye.

Colors are known to invoke an emotional response, impact mood, and even have healing powers.

As a photographer, I challenged myself to create images that featured a dominant color chosen for its beneficial characteristics.

The Color Red… Vitality—Courage—Strength

The Color Red: Glass Works 17

Colors are known to invoke an emotional response, impact mood, and even have healing powers.

Vitality, courage, and strength are all attributes of the color red.

Red is the color of lovers. Think Valentine’s Day, romance, passion and excitement.

Red is also the color of intensity, fierceness, fire and blood.

Red stirs our emotions, stimulates us to action, and fills us with energy.

In healing, red counteracts anemia, lack of energy, impotence, and low blood pressure.

As a photographer, I challenged myself to create images that featured a dominant color chosen for its beneficial characteristics.

Characteristics of Gold

The Color of Gold: Water Works 04

Colors are known to invoke an emotional response, impact mood, and even have healing powers.

As a photographer, I challenged myself to create a series of images that were more about the color in the image, than the subject I was photographing.

Each Water Works image features a dominant color chosen for its beneficial characteristics. Additionally, the patterns, shapes and textures created by the splashing water drops create a visually entertaining image.

Gold is the dominant color in my Water Works 04 image.

Gold symbolizes good health and is an important color in the art of oriental healing. The color gold is recognized for its beneficial effect on the immune system. It is also recognized for its ability to strengthen the heart and improve cardiac conditions.

The color gold is known to promote courage, confidence and willpower. So, not surprisingly, gold is also a symbol of wealth and success.

The color gold is undoubtedly good for the soul. Hopefully I have captured some of gold’s amazing properties in Water Works 04.

If you are looking to display a symbol of good health and success in your home, order your Water Works 04 print by following the links listed below.
